Lois LaVonne (Boelman) Lumley OBITUARY

Lois LaVonne Boelman was born in Grundy County Iowa on September 2, 1936, to Ben Boelman and Anna (DeVries) Boelman, and ed away on May 26, 2025, in Vista, California after a long struggle with dementia.

Lois was the best kind of complicated woman: smart, strong-willed, opinionated, loving and mischievous. She was proud of her family, her Iowa roots, and her long career in nursing.

Married to Darwyn Lumley in 1957, they raised a family and enjoyed many years together, and she was his steadfast caregiver during the difficult years with Parkinson’s disease prior to his death in 2016.

A long-time resident of Vista, CA, Lois enjoyed hosting backyard parties, taking road trips, walks at the beach, gardening, winning at board games, and her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four daughters, Marguerite (Peter) Smith of Vista; Andrea Lyda (Richard Wilkinson) of Vista; Leah Lumley of Albuquerque, NM; and Risa Lumley of Palm Desert, CA, as well as 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
