American Legion Post 416 hosted a Memorial Day ceremony on May 26 at 210 W. F St. in Encinitas. In addition to a salute to the fallen, the event included proclamations from Encinitas Mayor Bruce Ehlers, TAPS played by Commander (USN) (Ret.) Ken Carstens, and Leeann Atherton performing a song written as a tribute to her veteran father.

Vietnam Veteran Colonel (USAF Ret.) Louis Thomas Montulli, PhD was the event’s guest speaker. Captain Royce Williams, Navy Cross recipient and Congressional Medal of Honor candidate, was the event’s guest of honor.
