Re “Just like that, a visionary investment vanishes” (May 15): This is a sad obituary of a community program that was killed by the Trump istration as part of its dismantling of essential programs to improve the environment and control climate change. In his reframing of the purpose of the EPA, Lee Zeldin did not include protecting the environment or public health, twin tenets that have guided the agency since its founding in 1970. Mr. Zeldin called climate change a religion.
This displays both ignorance of the dangers of climate change, ed by overwhelming scientific evidence, and the mean-spiritedness of “a federal decision that disregarded the real and present needs of working families of color who have long waited for meaningful investment.”
