Re “Energy cuts reflect public’s disdain for green pork” (May 12): In ing cuts to federal clean energy credits and other programs, Jack Spencer argues this will lead to U.S. energy “dominance.” Nonsense — it will guarantee American submission to Chinese energy leadership.

Spencer writes in a strange “la-la land” where climate change does not exist. The fact is our world is inevitably moving toward a 100% clean energy economy. This is happening too slowly, but it is only a matter of time, as no alternative to getting rid of carbon pollution exists.

The rest of the world knows this, but some Americans are still tempted by the oil industry’s siren song, telling us nothing needs to change. Following this path means surrendering leadership of the new world energy economy to China.

America can either lead this transition, or it can submit to Chinese dominance and be left behind. Let your representatives in Congress known which path you choose.
