Re “Democratic supervisors’ effort to free up money from county reserves fails at first go” (May 6): County Supervisors Terra Lawson-Remer and Monica Montgomery Steppe have proposed raiding San Diego County emergency reserves to offset anticipated cuts in federal funding. This proposal would be used to fund bloated and ineffective programs such as low-income housing, public health services and drug addiction programs. I suggest reviewing and streamlining these programs for proper use of taxpayer money and ensuring its use for the most needy in our society. This method further allows for the intended use of reserve funds.
