Re “UCSD inaction shows disregard for Jewish safety” (March 6): As as a Jew who believes in freedom of speech, I found Ellia Torkian’s commentary “deeply concerning.”

As the Israelis again turn off the electricity and water in Gaza, of course, our much greater concern has to be about the “safety” of the many humans trapped there. In my view, it is imperative that both the Trump and all university istrations adhere to the free speech mandate in the First Amendment, and provide voices on all sides of this important issue a safe space to speak.
