Downtown office tower sold to buyer planning to convert vacant floors into residential units

After getting a deal, Encinitas-based Ambient Communities intends to redo the vacant floors at 530 B St. with residential units.

Opened in 1966 as the headquarters of the First National Bank Building, the 24-story skyscraper at 530 B Street is a 250,000 square-foot office building in downtown’s financial district. It was 76.8 percent leased at the time of its sale. (Dan Kirksey)
