Local resident Phyllis Thomson told the La Jolla Light that she was walking near Windansea Beach at Camino de la Costa when she “caught myself from falling when tripping over a large mound of concrete sticking up in the sidewalk. There was also a large hole in the sidewalk close by.”

She said she marked the two spots with bright acrylic paint used in crafting “to make them visible and help others avoid future falls.”

If you see something around La Jolla that you think needs some work, send photos for our Tarnishing the Jewel feature to [email protected]. Or if you find something worthy of kudos, send photos of that for our sister feature, Polishing the Jewel. ♦
