Labor Day weekend was good to La Jolla’s three high school varsity football teams as they all got to work in posting victories.

La Jolla High 21, Torrey Pines 14

Hank Hansen rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns and threw for a score in La Jolla’s home victory Aug. 30 as the Vikings improved to 2-0.

Cornerback Galo Sanchez had a game-clinching interception and broke up three es.

The Vikings next will play their third consecutive home game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, against Madison (1-1).

La Jolla Country Day 26, Crawford 6

Jack Levin threw three touchdown es to Quentin Cesaire and Garrett Ace rushed for 256 yards and a touchdown to lead the Torreys to 2-0 with a road victory over the Colts.

Country Day next plays at home against Mount Miguel of Spring Valley (2-0) at 7 p.m. Sept. 6.

Bishop’s 24, Christian 13

The Knights rebounded from their season-opening loss to La Jolla with a road victory over the Patriots of El Cajon on Aug. 31.

Cash Herrera threw touchdown es of 25 and 38 yards to Ian Browne and the Knights forced four turnovers.

Bishop’s (1-1) next has a home game against Mount Miguel at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at La Jolla High School. ♦
