Curious about working with a professional interior designer but unsure where to start, and the cost has been a dealbreaker? The San Diego chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has a potential solution with its “Summer Spruce Up” offer, available through Aug. 31.
For a donation of $115, an ASID member will conduct a one-hour design consultation in your home, whether for a design refresh or a complete remodel. The annual fundraiser provides a stress-free introduction to working with a professional designer, part of an effort to make interior design approachable for everyone. The payment benefits ASID’s efforts in outreach and promoting excellence in design, as the designers donate their time.
“For $115, a consumer can consult for an hour with a professional interior designer in their own home,” said Jennifer Beckley Sides, president of ASID San Diego. “The designer can help with furniture placement and design, colors, window treatments, integrating antiques or showcasing collections, organization, kitchen and bath remodels, outdoor kitchens and patios — essentially, whatever design challenge you have.”

ASID San Diego will pair consumers with a designer based on their specific needs and location. Experts can also address staging, aging in place, art and furniture placement, window treatments, room additions, historic preservation, media rooms, multigenerational living and universal design.
“ ‘Spruce Up’ gives consumers an affordable introduction to working with an interior designer,” said Beckley Sides. “Professional design guidance is not necessarily a luxury. In fact, designers can help minimize costs by eliminating costly mistakes and getting the most value for the money you invest in your home.”
All appointments are pre-paid and can be arranged at convenient times throughout July and August. To arrange for a consultation, visit 2024 ASID Summer Spruce Up on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/ASIDSummerSpruceUp. For more information, ASID through Eventbrite or email to @casd.asid.org.
