For more than 30 years, Creamer Physical Therapy in La Jolla has been offering services from well-educated therapists using state-of-the-art equipment and individualized treatment programs, according to the clinic.
The La Jolla Light asked the following questions to find out more about the business.
Q. When and how did the business start?
A. Creamer Physical Therapy first opened its doors in May 1992. Previously, the owner, Gloria Creamer, had worked in two other clinics — one in La Mesa and one in North County. Several doctors who had offices in those areas as well as La Jolla requested that she open a clinic in La Jolla.
Gloria was living in La Jolla since 1986 after arriving from Canada. Her daughter was attending Stella Maris Academy in La Jolla, so it was a very convenient location to open the clinic.
Q. What is its mission?
A. Creamer Physical Therapy’s mission is to assist and educate our patients in living an active, healthy lifestyle free from pain or physical limitations through caring, skillful, personalized and exemplary physical therapy and wellness services.
Q. What services do you offer?
A. Services offered are manual therapy of proven techniques, medical exercises therapy one on one, Pilates programs, scoliosis programs, osteoporosis programs, temporomandibular ts and cranial sacral techniques, total lymphedema management … traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, shock wave therapy and Phoenix high-power laser treatments.
Q. What makes you and/or your company unique compared with similar businesses?
A. Our clinic is unique in upgrading and maintaining state-of-the-art equipment and continuing education of therapists for advanced certification in our programs, treating our patients in a personalized, friendly atmosphere.
One new example is the high-powered Phoenix laser, used by many professional sport teams to augment physical therapy and accelerate return to their sport as well as treat chronic pain and dysfunction from failed surgeries and/or previous treatments.
Q. What’s new with the business that you want everyone to know about?
A. The newest addition is the Phoenix high-powered, non-invasive laser system for healing and cellular regenerative therapy. Phoenix laser is the most high-powered grade 1V laser. The high power penetrates more deeply, to a 6-inch level.
Lower-powered lasers reach more superficial structures such as melanin and blood vessels. The Phoenix thera-lase penetrates to the cells, stimulating increased regeneration.
Treatable conditions are acute and chronic pain, scar tissue, post-operative conditions, soft tissue injuries, neuropathy, wounds, sprains and strains, migraines and erectile dysfunction.
Q. What are the advantages of living and/or working in La Jolla?
A. Gloria enjoys working in La Jolla, as everything you could want is within walking distance. Patients are friendly, appreciative and many are very interesting.
