Body Sculpting by Lisa was started in May 2021 by owner-operator Lisa Gerstenslager on Girard Avenue in La Jolla.
The La Jolla Light caught up with Gerstenslager to find out more about her establishment.
Q. What is the mission of your business?
A: The mission is to promote health and beauty. I help women and men with stubborn fat areas that won’t go away with just diet and exercise.
That’s where body sculpting comes in. I use a variety of tools to help break down fat cells and deposits so they can be eliminated naturally through the body. I’m ionate about helping my clients feel beautiful and giving them a boost of confidence to brighten their day. I love to put a smile on people’s faces and am grateful that my line of work allows me to do that every day.
Q. What services do you offer?
A. All my body-sculpting services are non-invasive, with no downtime, no recovery time. You can leave my suite and continue with your daily activities like normal. I perform a variety of services and I love doing them all:
• Cavitation: Breaks down fat cells and deposits using ultrasonic sound waves
• Laser lipo: Breaks down fat cells and deposits using 2-inch laser beams
• Radio frequency: RF is wonderful for the body. It can be done anywhere on the body. It helps tighten, tone and smooth out the skin. Along with helping to diminish fine lines, sun spots and acne scarring, it promotes collagen and reduces cellulite.
• Wood therapy: A technique using wooden tools to massage and sculpt the body while draining the lymphatic system and creating better blood circulation
• Cupping therapy: An ancient Chinese technique using cups placed on the skin to help move stagnant blood. It helps with pain anywhere in the body, inflammation, headaches, anxiety, stress, nerve damage, sciatica pain, fibromyalgia pain and range of motion. Cupping is highly recommended for athletes.
• Hyaluronic acid lip enhancements: No needles are used, just a pen to push in the HA to naturally fill your lips to give them more volume 1 milliliter at a time.
• Lip blush: Semi-permanent tattoo on your lips to give them more color, depth and symmetry
• Mesotherapy: A serum that dissolves fat in small areas like your chin to help get rid of that pesky double chin
Q. What makes you and/or your company unique compared with similar businesses?
A. I’m a small-business owner and operator and value every client that works through my door. I listen to what my clients are wanting and create a personal plan for each of them. My body-sculpting clients and I have a lot of one-on-one time, sometimes an hour and a half every week for 10 weeks. We get to know each other very well. I’m constantly learning new things from my clients because of them sharing what they do for a living or experiences they’ve had. We become friends and look forward to seeing each other again, not only for the body-sculpting work but to catch up on where we left off from last week. This is what makes my company unique compared with similar businesses. It’s the homey, comfortable feeling that I provide to my clients.
Q. What’s new with the business that you want everyone to know about?
A. Lip blush is a new service that has been added to the menu. It’s becoming very popular here in San Diego. Small amounts of pigment are placed in the lips with a tattoo pen to enhance the natural color, making the lips symmetrical. It’s also used for color correction on the lips for those that have a natural darker lip line and pink in the middle. Lip blushing is about a three- to four-hour session.
Q. What are the advantages of working in La Jolla?
A. Working in La Jolla has been so wonderful. Every day I get to see the ocean and smell the ocean air. … Even though I’ve been coming here the last 20 years taking my boys to The Shores to surf, after working here in the heart of La Jolla and walking the streets daily and trying all the restaurants on my lunch breaks, I have come to love La Jolla even more and I’m so proud and honored to be a part of the lovely community here.
