LA MESA — La Mesa police caught a person suspected of stealing an iPhone from a Walmart on Tuesday evening, police said. The car used as the getaway vehicle was stolen.

According to Sgt. Marcus Patrick, around 7 p.m. a person robbed a new iPhone from the Walmart on Grossmont Center Drive and then fled in the stolen car.

La Mesa police were not yet able to release information about the person’s identity. They also were unable to provide a description of the vehicle.

Patrick expected that an arrest would soon be made.
